Why did I choose the winery Albert-Sounit ?
Having worked for three years on the Côte Chalonnaise, I had always appreciated the wines there, which showed great potential wines, and were frequently little known.
In 1993, Knud Kjellerup bought this winery from M. Albert Sounit. Originally his Danish importer, he was, more importantly wine lover and a burgundy wine enthusiast. He took over the estate with all its specialties, while working to improve the conditions for production, and always improving the quality of the wine. Today, production of the wines of the apellation Bourgogne is limited but the quality is excellent.
Of course, Albert Sounit’s vineyard produces Crémant de Bourgogne – the centre of production having been Rully since 1822, -as well as wines with differenc appellations from the Côte Chalonnaise , Suh as Rully, naturally, and also Mercurey and Montagny.
In the vineyard, the vines are ploughed; there is no use of pesticides or herbicides. In the cellar, the fermentation is instigated by native yeasts.
