Why did I choose the winery Saint Jean du Barroux ?
Philippe Gimel is a person passionate about his craft, its wines and you passionate when you spent a few moment with him in his vineyard. He bought his vineyard in 2003 after different wine experience in different wineries in Chateauneuf du Pape : Beaucasted and La Janasse in order to find “HIS” vineyard. Terroir is a key word, the varieties mainly Grenache and Syrah are grown on soils from Oligocene.
There is 12 hectares on 15 producing wines, Philippe wanted to keep all the hedges, trees in the vineyard, saving the biodiversity.
The culture is organic certified and the fermentation happen with native yeasts and no additional enological products.
