Wines from Estate Rolet in Boston
Wine tasting in Boston with Didier Boutet from D.B. Selection. The wines from the estate Rolet are now represented in the New England and the welcome was really positif on the last Thursday 8th of October.
The complexe Chardonnay from Etoile and Arbois, the Trousseau, pleasant, rich and fruity, the sparkling wines, all elegant and sophisticated, but moreover the plaisant, riche Vins de Paille, real nectar for desert and the Vin Jaune 2001, with gold medal, emblematic wine from the appellation, led passionned people stopped by the table.

Rolet’s Vin Jaune at the Frenchlaundry
The magazine Tasted drew a very nice article about wines from Rolet Père et Fils in Jura. The wine is tasted with gougère made by the chef Thomas Keller in Yountville – Napa Valley – in the prestigious restaurant The French Laundy ***.

” A truly great and underrated wines style that should get more attention. It pairs especially well with cheese such as Comté or Gruyère, it has the tanginess of a great Sherry, yet with some more freshness and a lot of complexity. Enjoy at around 14°C / 58°F”.
Mas Foulaquier and La Stoppa in Oslo
In Norway, August was the month for Ageno wine … this gold-colour wine from La Stoppa, a long maceration white wine, that Ole Jacob Skagen and David Johansen with Vinum, so surprised by so much aromas and such a structure presented to the Monopole some months ago.
They were right : this wine received a warm welcome and is today in some Monopole stores, the same with la Macchiona in all sizes : bottles, Magnum and Dobble Magnum. Gutturnio is a private importation from Vinum and we hope would be soon in the stores too …
The trimestrial wine tasting organized with the Monopole in order to let the stores taste the new wines is also a good occasion for importers to present again other wines from their Portfolio … up to 8. I was really pleased to know that Ole Jacob and David selected wines from Mas Foulaquier : Orphée and Calades. A very qualitative tasting thus !

Orphée more on the fruit and very lively, Calades 2005 open and more structured have been tasting and tasting again by the professionnals … thanks to you Ole Jacob and David !
Wine tasting in St Hippolyte
Friday 7th of August was the perfect day for a wine tasting in domaine Klein with Lutz Hellweg and his wife from Perigord Import, wine import company, now importing wines from Klein Aux Vieux Remparts’ estate and located in Lüdenscheid in Germany.
Françoise Klein’s welcome was just wonderful, because she made a visit of HER garden … we followed the arrow signs …

We went up the stairs, we opened a door, we went through a hallway, we opened a second door, then … what a wonderful discovery of this hidden garden, where all aromatic plants, wilde or not, grow : mint, purslane, wilde rocket, tarragon, sage, basil, and of course, vegetables : red, yellow, purple tomatoes, tetragone … It is no use trying to name all of them, I would forget many.

“It is really simple, I never take off one plant or one variety which is growing somewhere, if it is growing, it means that it feels well there” explains us Françoise Klein. We took advantage of this visit to refresh our olfactive memory thanks to all these flavours, just before the wine tasting.
Thank you for this visit, it was really great !!

We tasted then some white wines from Albert Sounit’s estate, we started with the Côte Chalonnaise Blanc 2007, very pleasant, well balanced, a long finish, then the Montagny 1er cru les Coères 2007, very rich, well matured grapes. A wine which only 20% have been aged in barrels, in order to keep fruits and elegance. A well-made wine !
The other bottles went directly to Germany in order to be tasted and we hope … would be enjoyed by our german friends.
