Jura wines tasting in New York city

Now the habits is on with a Jura wine tasting every year in New York city ! This year it was in June, a group with winemakers came to show their wines and let them taste.

We were with Pierre Rolet there too ! We saw lots of people, passioned with wines from Jura, and it seems that the Vin Jaune has no secrets for any New Yorkers now !

We have presented a wide range of wines all made in the estate from the vineyard, starting with the Crémant, actually the range is full, since the sparkling Rosé has a new shape, showing its beautiful colour. We had three Chardonnay coming from Arbois, Côtes du Jura and Etoile, a very nice tasting actually, bringing the importance of the Terroir, showing that depending on the soil where the Chardonnay grows the wine will be different even if the winemaking is close ! Usually Chardonnay in Arbois, will be more fruity instead of in l’Etoile, the minerality will be dominant. We of course brought some rosé and reds : Trousseau, full of fruits in mouth and the Poulsard becoming famous in NYC. To finish, both emblematic Vin Jaune and Vin de Paille !

It was a really nice tasting in a very nice place … see you next year, same place ! …

Mas Foulaquier and La Stoppa in Oslo

In Norway, August was the month for Ageno wine … this gold-colour wine from La Stoppa, a long maceration white wine, that Ole Jacob Skagen and David Johansen with Vinum, so surprised by so much aromas and such a structure presented to the Monopole some months ago.
They were right : this wine received a warm welcome and is today in some Monopole stores, the same with la Macchiona in all sizes : bottles, Magnum and Dobble Magnum. Gutturnio is a private importation from Vinum and we hope would be soon in the stores too …dsc003431

The trimestrial wine tasting organized with the Monopole in order to let the stores taste the new wines is also a good occasion for importers to present again other wines from their Portfolio … up to 8. I was really pleased to know that Ole Jacob and David selected wines from Mas Foulaquier : Orphée and Calades. A very qualitative tasting thus !dsc003447

dsc003465dsc003494Orphée more on the fruit and very lively, Calades 2005 open and more structured have been tasting and tasting again by the professionnals … thanks to you Ole Jacob and David !

Vinexpo with winery Rolet – Jura

vinexpo

Vinexpo, huge mondial annual meeting closed its doors. It was the occasion to meet interesting people, let the wines from Jura travel in different continents.

Also the opportunity to present not only the new labels, elegant and refined pure style, for Naturé, Macvin and Crémant but also the little one, a 37,5 cl bottle of Vin Jaune, the exact replica from the regular bottle (clavelin) that Pierre Rolet found in his cellar and brought to the supplier to produce such a shape.

Not only it is charming, but it is also a facility to export the yellow wine in the USA in a bottle agreementing to the volume regulations of the country.

Wines up with La Stoppa in Cujak

It was the third year of WInes up in Chateau de Cujak closed to Bordeaux. The occasion to discover winemakers from the old Europe, producing wines expressing the soil they were from.

La Stoppa was presenting its wines and has enjoyed numerous importers and passioned people with :

- The gutturnio 2007, quite more than one year of bottle now, the wine is very open.

- The macchiona 2004, wine of high potential due to the selection of best Barbera and Bonarda grapes aged one year separatly in big cask.

- The barbera, vintage just released.

- Ageno 2005, an exception wine coming from white varieties of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Ortrugo and Trebbiano, the wine followed a red wine process : grapes stemed and crushed, pomping over in the first days, the wine has stayed in contact with the skins for more than 3 months (for the 05 and one year for the 06). the gold robe is very limpid, the flavors floral first evolve then forward pear and peach, the mouth very aromtic too, has some astringence in finish. WONDERFUL, A perfect match with cheese !!
